Chaos in the Ring: Phyna Floors Nkechi Blessing, Carter Efe Defeats Speed Darlington
Phyna and Carter Efe emerged victorious as celebrity boxing delivered dramatic showdowns at Lagos’ Chaos in the Ring event.
Reality TV star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe emerged victorious in their respective celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” event held in Lagos on Thursday, October 1.
Phyna defeated actress Nkechi Blessing in their scheduled four-round contest, securing a knockout victory in the fourth round. The result made Phyna the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout.
The former Big Brother Naija winner celebrated the victory before setting her sights on another potential opponent, Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia, who watched the bout from ringside.
Phyna also received a ₦50 million prize following her victory and indicated that she intends to pursue professional boxing.
In the other major celebrity bout, Carter Efe defeated rapper Speed Darlington in their four-round contest. Efe dominated the fight and secured victory, extending his unbeaten run in the “Chaos in the Ring” celebrity boxing series.
Carter Efe had previously defeated singer Portable by unanimous decision in a three-round celebrity boxing contest at the same venue in May.
The rivalry between Efe and Speed Darlington had intensified during the build-up to the fight, with both entertainers exchanging heated words before settling their differences in the ring.
The event also featured a major professional boxing contest between Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah and Ghana’s Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.
Gyimah defeated Appah by unanimous decision to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
The event brought together celebrity entertainers and professional boxers for a night of boxing contests, rivalries and championship action in Lagos.
