Championship: Femi Azeez Named in PFA Team of the Year
Femi Azeez earns PFA Championship Team of Year recognition after 11 goals and eight assists for Millwall last season.
Nigeria international Femi Azeez has been named in the Professional Footballers’ Association Championship Team of the Year following an impressive campaign with Millwall.
The 24-year-old winger earned the recognition after playing a key role in Millwall’s 2025/26 Championship campaign.
Azeez recorded 11 goals and eight assists in 37 league appearances for the Lions, establishing himself as one of the division’s standout attacking players.
His performances helped Millwall compete for promotion to the Premier League, although the club ultimately fell short of securing top-flight football.
Millwall, managed by Alex Neil, reached the Championship play-off semi-finals but were eliminated by Hull City, ending their hopes of promotion.
Despite the disappointment, Azeez’s individual performances attracted significant attention and earned him recognition from his fellow professionals through his inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year.
His strong club form also earned him an opportunity on the international stage with Nigeria.
The former Reading player made his Super Eagles debut against Jamaica in May and marked the occasion in impressive fashion by scoring twice.
His international debut provided another highlight in what was a breakthrough season for the forward, who continued to establish himself as an important attacking option.
Azeez’s inclusion in the PFA’s Championship Team of the Year further underlines the impact he made during the 2025/26 season and his growing profile in English football.
The recognition also comes as a boost to his international career, with the player now looking to build on his successful debut for Nigeria and continue developing at club level.
His combination of goals and assists for Millwall, alongside his impressive introduction to international football, has placed him among the Nigerian players attracting attention ahead of the new season.
