The Christian Association of Nigeria has urged political leaders at all levels to prioritise good governance and deliver tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
CAN made the call in its message marking the 2026 Eid-el-Maulud celebration, stressing the need for leaders to translate promises into meaningful action.
The association said Nigerians were increasingly weary of repeated promises that failed to produce corresponding improvements in their living conditions.
It urged government officials to address the challenges confronting citizens, including insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment and inadequate social services.
CAN also called on Nigerians to use the occasion to promote peace, compassion, tolerance and mutual understanding across religious and ethnic lines.
The association stressed that the celebration should serve as a reminder of the importance of peaceful coexistence, care for the vulnerable and service to humanity.
It urged political leaders to place the welfare of citizens above personal and partisan interests, saying responsible leadership was essential to building a peaceful and prosperous society.
CAN further called on Nigerians to continue supporting one another and resist actions capable of deepening divisions in the country.
The association wished Muslims across the country a peaceful Eid-el-Maulud celebration and urged all Nigerians to embrace values that promote unity, justice and peaceful coexistence.
