Calabar Youths Stage Solidarity Walk for Tinubu, Otu Ahead of 2027
Thousands of youths in Cross River State staged a solidarity walk in Calabar in support of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Thousands of youths under the aegis of the Evidence Group on Saturday staged a solidarity walk in Calabar, Cross River State, in support of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu.
The walk, themed “We Dey Walk, E Dey Show,” began at Millennium Park, with participants carrying banners and placards highlighting projects and programmes of the Federal and Cross River State governments.
The youths, drawn from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, marched through major streets of Calabar, chanting solidarity songs and displaying what organisers described as evidence of governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administrations.
Otu, represented by the Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr Sylvester Agabi, thanked the youths for organising the walk and expressing support for his administration.
Agabi said the state government would continue to place youths at the centre of its programmes, describing the Evidence Group as an initiative promoting youth inclusion and political participation.
He urged the participants to take the message of the rally to their wards and local government areas and mobilise support for APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Agabi also called for what he described as “five over five” support for APC candidates from the presidency to the governorship and National and State Assemblies, saying this would strengthen Cross River’s representation at the Federal level.
The Director-General of the Evidence Group, Mr Bassey Eyoma, said the movement was established to place youths at the centre of governance, policy and development.
The group’s initiator and Special Adviser to the Governor on Governor’s Office, Mr Edem Bassey, said the walk was organised to showcase what the organisers described as achievements of the Tinubu and Otu administrations.
The procession disrupted vehicular movement around Millennium Park and adjoining routes for several hours before ending peacefully, with participants pledging to continue grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
