Bishop Urges Osun Politicians to Separate Political Differences from Personal Relationships
The Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, Isaac Oluyamo, has urged Osun politicians and residents to move beyond disagreements from the recent governorship election, embrace reconciliation and preserve relationships.
The Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, Osun State, Rt. Revd Isaac Oluyamo, has urged politicians and residents not to allow political differences to create lasting hatred or division.
Oluyamo made the appeal in a statement issued in Osogbo on Friday, while calling for reconciliation among individuals and families affected by disagreements during the recent governorship election.
The bishop called on those involved in political disputes to put bitterness aside, forgive one another and work towards restoring broken relationships and friendships.
He said political contests were temporary, while relationships, families, communities and bonds among people should endure beyond elections.
Oluyamo also prayed for healing among those affected by political disagreements, reconciliation within families and the restoration of damaged relationships.
He congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the August 15 governorship election and urged him to put God first in administering the state.
The cleric further prayed against accidents, sudden deaths, calamities and other tragedies in the state, while encouraging residents to look to God for security and guidance.
Oluyamo also called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to address insecurity, citing persistent killings, kidnappings and banditry as threats to national stability and economic growth.
He made the remarks during the opening session of the third session of the fifth Synod of the diocese at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Esa-Oke.
