Bayelsa To Deploy 19 Doctors, 210 Nurses to Primary Healthcare Centres
The Bayelsa State Government is set to deploy 19 doctors and 210 nurses to primary healthcare centres across the state to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
The Bayelsa State Government is set to deploy 19 medical doctors and 210 nurses to primary healthcare centres across the state as part of efforts to improve access to healthcare services.
The deployment is aimed at addressing manpower shortages at the primary healthcare level and ensuring that residents, particularly those in underserved communities, have better access to medical services.
The state government has continued to prioritise strengthening its primary healthcare system, with the Ministry of Health describing accessible healthcare as a key part of its health agenda.
Bayelsa had previously approved the recruitment of more than 2,000 workers for primary healthcare facilities, including medical doctors, nurses and other health personnel, following a needs assessment of facilities across the state.
The deployment of additional personnel is expected to improve staffing levels at primary healthcare centres and reduce pressure on secondary and tertiary health institutions.
The government has also invested in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and services across the state, including support for primary healthcare facilities serving communities in difficult-to-reach areas.
Bayelsa's health authorities have emphasised the importance of primary healthcare as the first point of contact for residents and a critical component of efforts to improve healthcare outcomes across the state.
