BAUCHI PERM SEC DIES IN MAKKAH DURING 2026 HAJJ PILGRIMAGE
The Permanent Secretary for Special Services in the Office of the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Shehu Yahaya Jalam, has died in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, during the ongoing 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
According to a statement issued by the Bauchi State Government, Jalam passed away in the early hours of Sunday after a brief illness while participating in this year’s Hajj exercise.
The late permanent secretary, who held the traditional title of Turakin Dawakin Misau, was part of the Bauchi State contingent in Saudi Arabia before he reportedly fell ill.
In a condolence message released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Governor Bala Mohammed described the deceased as a dedicated and hardworking public servant who contributed immensely to government operations and previous Hajj exercises in the state.
The government said Jalam’s death was a painful loss not only to his family but also to the Bauchi State civil service and the wider community that benefited from his commitment and humility.
Funeral prayers for the deceased were reportedly conducted at the Holy Mosque of the Ka’aba in Makkah after the Zuhr prayer on Sunday.
Governor Mohammed also prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, while asking God to give his family the strength to bear the loss.
