Bauchi NDC Governorship Candidate Dumps Party Ahead of 2027 Election
Ibrahim Kashim, the Nigeria Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Bauchi State, has resigned from the party, effective October 16, 2026. He said his departure would not weaken his commitment to the state’s development but did not disclose his next political move.
The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bauchi State, Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, has resigned his membership of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kashim announced his decision in a statement to his supporters on Monday, confirming that his resignation took effect on October 16, 2026.
He said the decision followed careful reflection but maintained that leaving the party would not affect his commitment to the political struggle for a better Bauchi State.
According to him, the state needs purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, increased opportunities for young people and women, improved security, and a future in which citizens can live with dignity and hope.
The former governorship candidate assured his supporters that his political journey was far from over, adding that his determination to contribute to the development of the state remained unchanged.
He said he would continue engaging with individuals and groups who shared his vision of a peaceful, prosperous and economically vibrant Bauchi State.
Kashim, however, did not reveal his next political move or indicate whether he intended to pursue his governorship ambition under another party.
He promised to communicate the next phase of his political journey in due course, urging his supporters to remain calm, steadfast and united.
He also stressed that their collective mission was greater than membership of any political party, describing it as a struggle centred on the future of Bauchi State and Nigeria.
Kashim, a former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government under Governor Bala Mohammed, had pursued his governorship ambition through different political platforms before securing the NDC ticket for the 2027 election.
His resignation leaves uncertainty over the future of his governorship ambition and the party’s preparations for the election in Bauchi State.
