Bauchi Health Agency Boss, Four Children Die in Car Crash
Ibrahim Ladan Duguri and four of his children died in a crash in Bauchi, while another son reportedly survived.
The Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, and four of his children have died in a fatal road accident in Bauchi State.
The accident reportedly occurred on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased children were identified as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam. Another son, identified as Suleiman, reportedly survived the crash but sustained serious injuries.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, expressed grief over the deaths in a condolence statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The governor extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the Duguri Emirate Council, friends, associates, colleagues and residents of the state.
Mohammed described Duguri’s death as a significant loss to Bauchi State, particularly its health sector, where the deceased served as head of the state’s health contributory management agency.
According to the governor, Duguri contributed to efforts to improve access to healthcare services, particularly for less privileged residents, through his work at BASHCMA.
He also acknowledged Duguri’s involvement in the state’s medical team during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, where he supported healthcare services for pilgrims.
The governor disclosed that Duguri was also his close personal friend and classmate, making the tragedy a personal loss.
He said the deaths of four children from the same family in one incident had made the circumstances particularly painful, while praying for strength and comfort for the surviving family members.
Mohammed also prayed for Suleiman’s recovery and urged residents to support the bereaved family with prayers and compassion during the period of mourning.
The funeral prayer for Duguri and his four deceased children was scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri.
The cause of the crash had not been detailed in the reports available at the time of publication.
