Atiku, Peter Obi, Amaechi Have Made Progress Under Tinubu — Bwala
Daniel Bwala says opposition figures Atiku, Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi have benefited from economic opportunities under Tinubu.
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, has said opposition figures Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi have made progress under the Tinubu administration.
Bwala made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, while defending the President’s recent remarks about prosperity in Nigeria.
The presidential aide argued that Nigerians had already begun experiencing what he described as prosperity before October 1, contrary to interpretations suggesting that economic progress would only begin from that date.
Bwala cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, as one example, saying about one million families whose children had benefited from the scheme were already experiencing economic relief.
He also pointed to infrastructure projects, arguing that providing roads and other facilities to previously underserved communities represented tangible economic benefits.
Turning to opposition politicians, Bwala said the private ventures associated with Atiku and Amaechi had continued to make progress and generate profits during the current administration.
He also referred to the commercial bank where Peter Obi serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees, saying the institution recorded significant profit under the Tinubu administration.
Bwala challenged the opposition figures to acknowledge whether their businesses had experienced progress during the past two years.
His comments came amid increasing political debate ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Atiku, Obi and Amaechi among prominent opposition figures involved in the emerging political realignments.
The presidential aide has repeatedly defended Tinubu’s economic reforms and argued that their benefits should be assessed beyond immediate economic difficulties.
Bwala said the President’s reference to prosperity should be understood as a continuing process rather than the beginning of economic improvement on a specific date.
The comments are likely to fuel further debate between the government and opposition over the impact of Tinubu’s economic policies, particularly as political parties and candidates prepare for the 2027 elections.
