Atiku Decries Economic Hardship Driving Youths To Sell Kidneys
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has raised concern over reports of young Nigerians selling their kidneys, blaming economic hardship and policies of the Tinubu administration.
Former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed concern over reports that young Nigerians are resorting to selling their kidneys because of economic hardship.
Atiku said the development reflected the severity of the economic challenges facing young Nigerians, warning that desperation was pushing some youths towards extreme measures to survive.
He attributed the situation to what he described as harsh economic policies under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The former vice-president said young Nigerians should be using their creativity and energy to build businesses and contribute to national development rather than being forced into selling parts of their bodies.
Atiku made the remarks while reacting to reports highlighting the growing desperation among some Nigerians amid worsening economic conditions.
He also linked the situation to the broader challenges of unemployment, poverty and declining purchasing power, arguing that government policies should provide young people with opportunities to thrive.
Atiku has repeatedly criticised the Tinubu administration over the impact of its economic reforms, particularly on vulnerable Nigerians.
He said the government needed to urgently address the conditions driving young Nigerians towards desperate survival strategies.
