Aston Villa Sign Senegalese Striker Jackson From Chelsea
Nicolas Jackson joins Aston Villa from Chelsea in a club-record deal as Unai Emery strengthens his attacking options.
Aston Villa have completed the signing of Senegal international striker Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on a permanent transfer, strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.
The 25-year-old forward has joined Villa on a long-term contract, with the total value of the deal reported to be up to £65m. The agreement includes an initial £47.5m fee, with a further £17.5m potentially payable in add-ons. The transfer makes Jackson Aston Villa’s new club-record signing.
Jackson’s move to Villa Park reunites him with manager Unai Emery, who previously worked with the striker at Villarreal in Spain. Emery played an important role in Jackson’s development during his time at the Spanish club and has been keen to bring the Senegalese forward to Aston Villa.
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 and spent three seasons with the London club. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he established himself as an important attacking option and contributed goals and assists across domestic and European competitions.
He later spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich before returning to Chelsea, where he became available for transfer during the current window.
His arrival at Aston Villa comes as the club reshapes its attacking department. Villa are preparing for the departure of England striker Ollie Watkins, who is moving to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Jackson is expected to play a leading role in replacing Watkins in the Villa attack.
For Chelsea, the transfer represents another significant player sale as the club continues to reshape its squad. Jackson joined the Blues for around £32m from Villarreal in 2023, meaning the reported Villa deal could represent a substantial profit for the London club.
Jackson will now begin a new chapter under Emery, with Aston Villa hoping his pace, physical strength and attacking ability can help the club compete strongly in domestic and European competitions.
The Senegal international is expected to be available for Villa’s upcoming fixtures, subject to registration requirements. His arrival further underlines Villa’s ambition to strengthen their squad and remain competitive at the highest level.
