Army Unveils Special Recruitment for Skilled Recruits
Nigerian Army opens special recruitment for skilled applicants, including engineers, marine mechanics, boat operators and technical apprentices.
The Nigerian Army has announced a special recruitment exercise for skilled men and women as part of the 92 Regular Recruits Intake, opening opportunities for Nigerians with technical qualifications to join the service.
Online registration for the exercise began on September 16 and will close on October 21, 2026.
The recruitment is targeted at applicants with specialised technical skills needed in areas of military service. Eligible categories include boat operators, marine mechanics, electrical and mechanical engineers and other technical apprentices.
According to the Army, applicants must meet the prescribed requirements and complete their applications within the stipulated period.
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and must possess a National Identity Number and Bank Verification Number. Candidates are also required to be medically, physically and psychologically fit.
For the skilled trades category, applicants must possess relevant Trade Test or City and Guild certificates in addition to the required educational qualifications.
The Army stated that tradesmen and women must not be older than 26 years by October 21, 2026, while non-trades applicants must meet the separate age requirement prescribed for the intake.
Applicants are expected to apply using their states of origin rather than their states of residence. Shortlisted candidates will undergo screening in their respective states of origin between November 17 and December 1, 2026.
The Army also stated that there will be no pre-selection computer-based test and no special recruitment centre. Candidates will instead be screened at locations within their states of origin.
The service warned applicants against paying money to individuals or groups claiming to have influence over the recruitment process.
Recruitment into the Nigerian Army is free, and applicants have been advised not to offer gratification or inducements to anyone.
Candidates are expected to present original educational certificates and other required documents during the screening exercise. The Army warned that applicants who submit forged or falsified documents could be withdrawn from training.
The special recruitment reflects the Army’s efforts to strengthen its manpower with personnel who possess technical skills that can support specialised military operations and services.
Nigerians interested in the exercise are advised to complete their applications through the official recruitment portal before the October 21 deadline.
The Army said shortlisted names would be published on its official website.
