Army Destroys Lakurawa Camps in Sokoto, Kills Terrorists
Nigerian Army troops have destroyed Lakurawa terrorist camps in Waria Forest, Sokoto State, killing several fighters and recovering weapons and five motorcycles during a military operation.
Troops of the Nigerian Army have destroyed camps belonging to the Lakurawa terrorist group in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing several fighters and recovering weapons and five motorcycles.
The operation was conducted by troops of the Joint Task Force North-West under Operation FANSAN YAMMA as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restrict their activities in the region.
The military said the operation resulted in the destruction of the camps and the neutralisation of several terrorists, while weapons and motorcycles believed to have been used by the group were recovered.
Waria Forest, located in Tangaza Local Government Area, is among the areas in Sokoto State where security forces have sustained operations against Lakurawa fighters.
The group has been linked to attacks on communities and other security threats in parts of the North-West, prompting intensified military operations to disrupt its bases and movement.
The latest operation forms part of broader efforts by troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to weaken armed groups, protect vulnerable communities and restore security across Sokoto and neighbouring areas.
The military has continued to rely on intelligence-led operations and coordinated deployments to locate suspected terrorist hideouts, recover weapons and prevent further attacks.
The operation comes amid continuing security challenges in the North-West, where armed groups have carried out attacks, kidnappings and other violent activities.
