The Chairman of Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Hashimu Dantudu, has said security has improved significantly in the area following the deployment of armoured vehicles procured by the state government.

Dantudu disclosed this on Sunday in Tsamaye Village, Sabon Birni LGA, when a delegation of the state government led by the State APC Leader, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, visited the community to condole with residents over the death of the local government APC Chairman, Alhaji Amadu Malale.

According to the council chairman, the deployment of the armoured vehicles has helped reduce attacks while increasing the presence of security personnel across the area.

“Cases of attacks have reduced tremendously since the deployment of the armoured vehicles in the area,” Dantudu said.

He commended Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for procuring and deploying the vehicles, describing the initiative as a significant boost to efforts to combat banditry across the state.

Dantudu said residents were now witnessing a stronger presence of security personnel compared with previous months.

“We are indeed witnessing the presence of security personnel in our area more than before,” he said.

The chairman expressed optimism that sustained government intervention and improved security operations would eventually bring banditry and other criminal activities under control.

He also assured the state government that the local government administration would continue to support security agencies in their efforts to protect residents and restore peace across communities.

Sabon Birni is one of the local government areas in Sokoto State that has experienced persistent security challenges, particularly attacks linked to banditry.

The increased security deployment is therefore expected to strengthen the ability of security personnel to respond to attacks and protect vulnerable communities.

The Sokoto State Government recently procured 62 armoured vehicles and 2,000 motorcycles for distribution to security agencies as part of measures to strengthen operations against bandits and other criminals.

The equipment is expected to improve mobility, surveillance and rapid response capabilities in communities affected by insecurity.

Dantudu said the council would continue working with the state government and security agencies to ensure the gains recorded through the recent deployment are sustained.

He urged residents to continue cooperating with security personnel by providing useful information that could assist ongoing operations against criminal elements in the area.
