APC Secretary Visits Adeleke, Congratulates Him On Re-election
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Surajudeen Basiru, has visited Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and congratulated him on his re-election, despite having campaigned against him in the governorship election.
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Surajudeen Basiru, has visited Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and congratulated him on his re-election.
Basiru paid a courtesy visit to Adeleke on Sunday in Osogbo, explaining that he had delayed the visit because of the political activities surrounding the governorship election.
He said he was grateful to Adeleke for attending the final rites of his late mother and visiting him during his period of bereavement earlier in the year.
Basiru acknowledged that he had campaigned vigorously against Adeleke during the election, but said politics should not prevent him from reciprocating the governor’s gesture of condolence.
He congratulated Adeleke on his victory, saying that as a democrat, he recognised the outcome of the election and accepted that political power was determined by the electorate.
Basiru said he had supported the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, during the election and wanted him to win, but acknowledged Adeleke’s victory.
He also thanked Adeleke for endorsing President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.
The APC national secretary said he had expected some people to believe that Adeleke would withdraw his earlier endorsement of Tinubu after winning the governorship election.
He, however, commended the governor for remaining firm on his position.
