APC Polls Give Us Real Statistics, Show Tinubu Will Win 2027 Election — National Chairman
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda says internal party polls indicate Tinubu is leading across states ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election, claiming that the party’s internal opinion polls show the ruling party ahead of its political opponents across the country.
Yilwatda made the statement on Sunday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he said the party had conducted surveys across different states and obtained figures indicating that Tinubu was leading.
“We have done fact-finding; we are leading. We have done our polls. We have our own polls that give us the real statistics across the states,” the APC chairman said.
Asked whether the polls indicated that Tinubu would win the next presidential election, Yilwatda responded affirmatively.
He maintained that the APC was not intimidated by opposition parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), associated with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), associated with Peter Obi.
The party chairman argued that the opposition’s performance in elections held ahead of the 2027 general elections gave the ruling party an advantage.
However, he did not publicly disclose the poll figures, sample sizes, survey dates or methodology used to reach the party’s conclusions.
Yilwatda also defended the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, particularly its tax reforms, arguing that the changes were designed to expand the tax base, increase government revenue and provide benefits for low-income Nigerians.
On electricity, he said reforms allowing state governments to participate in power generation, transmission and distribution had created opportunities for states to develop their own electricity projects.
The APC chairman acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, including rising petrol prices, but described the situation as temporary.
He insisted that the administration’s policies would produce benefits over time and expressed confidence in the party’s electoral prospects.
Yilwatda also rejected allegations that the APC shields its members from prosecution, stating that some party members were facing legal proceedings.
The chairman said the party was addressing internal disagreements arising from its primaries and reviewing preparations for its presidential campaign council.
With political parties intensifying preparations for the 2027 elections, the APC chairman’s remarks underline the ruling party’s confidence in its electoral strategy. However, the party’s internal polling claims remain its own assessment, with no detailed figures publicly presented in his remarks to independently establish the findings.
