APC Group Demands Greater Rewards and Commitment for Loyal Party Members
The APC Integrity Group has urged party leaders to prioritize loyal members over recent defectors in appointments and opportunities, warning that neglecting long-standing supporters could weaken internal unity and grassroots strength.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Integrity Group has called on the party’s national leadership to strengthen its commitment to loyal and dedicated members, warning that neglecting long-term party faithful could undermine internal unity.
The political pressure group expressed concern that foundational members who worked tirelessly for the party's success are consistently being overlooked in favor of late political defectors when it comes to key appointments, empowerment programs, and strategic positioning.
During a briefing outlining their internal position, stakeholders from the group emphasized that rewarding loyalty is essential for maintaining robust party structures ahead of future electoral cycles. They highlighted several key areas where the party leadership needs to re-align its internal reward system:
- Prioritizing Appointment Rails: Ensuring that competent, long-standing party members are given first consideration for federal boards, agencies, and regional political appointments over opportunistic decampees.
- Preventing Internal Friction: Warning that the growing trend of sidelining loyalists creates widespread resentment at the grassroots level, which could weaken the party's mobilizing power.
- Institutional Governance: Calling on the progressive leadership to establish clear, transparent reward frameworks within the APC constitution so that service and sacrifice to the party are formally recognized.
The group concluded that while expanding the party's ranks through defections is a normal part of political growth, it should not happen at the expense of those who defended the party's mandate during its most challenging periods.
