Anthony Joshua Undergoes Unusual ‘Torture’ Training Ahead of Fury Fight
Anthony Joshua has stepped up preparations for his expected heavyweight clash with Tyson Fury by undergoing an unusual full-body stretching workout in Dubai.
Two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has turned to an unusual stretching machine as he intensifies preparations for his expected showdown with fellow British boxer Tyson Fury.
Joshua shared a video of himself undergoing the gruelling workout at his training gym in Dubai, where he was strapped to a modern Pravilo machine designed to stretch and condition the body.
The machine pulled Joshua’s arms and legs into a starfish-like position before rotating his body, with the workout described by British media outlets as “torture” training because of the extreme positions involved.
Joshua captioned the video on Instagram, “When the instructor says, relax and breathe.”
The Pravilo is associated with Slavic and Russian training traditions and is designed to improve flexibility, mobility and conditioning.
The 36-year-old’s latest training comes as preparations continue for his expected heavyweight bout with Tyson Fury.
The proposed fight is expected to take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in December, after earlier plans for a November bout at Madison Square Garden in New York reportedly changed.
Joshua has previously fought twice in Cardiff, defeating Carlos Takam in 2017 and Joseph Parker in 2018.
The proposed meeting with Fury would mark the first time the two prominent British heavyweights have faced each other in the ring.
