Alli Urges Unconditional Release of Abducted Oyo NYSC Members
Senator Sharafadeen Alli has appealed for the unconditional release of prospective NYSC members from Oyo State abducted while travelling to their orientation camp in Abia State.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, has appealed for the unconditional release of prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from the state who were abducted in Imo State.
The graduates were reportedly abducted while travelling to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Abia State to begin their national service.
Alli, in a statement, described the incident as disturbing, saying the young graduates were travelling to fulfil their national service obligations and posed no threat to anyone.
He appealed to those holding the victims to release them unconditionally, expressing solidarity with their families, who he said were facing fear and anxiety over the situation.
Alli noted that the NYSC scheme was established to promote national unity and integration, stressing that prospective corps members should not become victims while responding to the call to serve their country.
He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to locate and rescue the abducted graduates safely.
The APC candidate also called for stronger security measures along major inter-state routes, particularly those frequently used by prospective corps members and other travellers.
He said Nigerians should be able to travel for education, employment and national service without fear for their lives.
Alli further appealed to those responsible for the abduction to recognise the value of human life and release the young graduates safely, noting that their families were waiting for their return.
He prayed for the safe return of the abducted prospective corps members and urged their families to remain calm while security agencies worked to secure their release.
