The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has urged ministers, special advisers, chairmen and chief executive officers of Federal Government agencies to intensify efforts to communicate the achievements of the President Bola Tinubu administration to Nigerians.

Akume made the call on Wednesday in Abuja while addressing participants at the Federal Appointees Strategic Summit, which brought together senior political appointees and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to review the administration’s programmes and achievements.

He said the summit would provide an opportunity to take stock of what had been achieved across government and assess the extent to which policies and programmes had affected the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

Akume urged ministers and agency heads to take greater responsibility for explaining their institutions’ policies, programmes and achievements in clear and accessible terms.

He said the exercise was not intended to evaluate individual ministers or agencies, but to examine achievements across the MDAs and determine how government interventions could translate into improved outcomes for citizens.

The SGF also encouraged participants to engage openly, sharing their experiences, challenges and perspectives on implementing government programmes.

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Henry Dele Alake, said the summit offered ministries, agencies, boards and other Federal Government institutions an opportunity to present their achievements and demonstrate their contributions to the administration.

He described the exercise as a presentation of the collective scorecard of officials appointed by the President and said the administration’s reported achievements should be communicated more effectively to Nigerians.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, commended Akume for convening the summit, describing it as a platform for appointees to collectively review and communicate the administration’s programmes, achievements and challenges.
