Akor Adams Scores First Serie a Goal in Venezia Defeat
Super Eagles striker Akor Adams opened his Serie A account for Venezia but could not prevent a 4-2 home defeat to Fiorentina.
Nigeria striker Akor Adams scored his first Serie A goal for Venezia on Friday as his side suffered a 4-2 home defeat to Fiorentina.
Adams opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after making an intelligent run to create space before receiving a pass from Gianluca Busio and calmly firing into the net.
The goal was Adams’ first in the Italian top flight since joining Venezia and came in his third league appearance for the newly promoted club.
Venezia, however, were unable to maintain their advantage as Fiorentina responded strongly through Franco Mastantuono.
Mastantuono scored twice before half-time to put Fiorentina ahead, before Mateo Pellegrino extended the visitors’ advantage in the 66th minute.
Mastantuono completed his hat-trick in the 84th minute, while Antoine Hainaut scored a late consolation for Venezia two minutes later.
Despite the defeat, Adams has made an encouraging start since moving to Venezia, having scored three goals and provided one assist in six appearances across all competitions
The result left Venezia still searching for their first points of the Serie A season after four matches.
