Aiyedatiwa Renames Ondo Event Centre After Mimiko
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has renamed the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure after former Governor Olusegun Mimiko in recognition of his contribution to the state’s development.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has renamed the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure, after former governor Olusegun Mimiko.
The facility will henceforth be known as the Dr Olusegun Mimiko International Centre for Culture and Events, in recognition of the former governor who initiated and constructed the complex during his administration.
Aiyedatiwa announced the renaming on Saturday at a birthday celebration organised in honour of Mimiko in Abuja, according to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
The statement confirmed that the event centre would officially bear Mimiko’s name as a tribute to his contribution to infrastructure development in Ondo State.
Mimiko governed the state from 2009 to 2017, during which the facility was built as part of efforts to provide infrastructure for cultural activities, exhibitions and public events.
The Dome, located in Akure, serves as a venue for a range of activities and was among the major projects completed under Mimiko’s administration.
The renaming places the former governor’s name on one of the state’s prominent public facilities, recognising his role in its establishment.
The decision forms part of the state government’s acknowledgement of infrastructure projects associated with previous administrations and their contributions to Ondo State’s development.
