Aiyedatiwa Adopts AI System to Automate Ondo Civil Service

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has launched an Artificial Intelligence-powered digital system designed to automate personnel administration, payroll, retirement and pension processes across the state civil service.

The system, known as “Ondo AI,” was launched at the Governor’s Office in Akure as part of the administration’s efforts to replace manual procedures with technology-driven public service operations.

Aiyedatiwa said the initiative was designed to improve efficiency, transparency and responsiveness while providing government with real-time access to accurate information for decision-making.

He said effective governance depended heavily on reliable information and data, adding that government could no longer continue to operate critical administrative processes using outdated analogue systems.

According to the governor, the digitisation programme is intended to simplify government processes, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, strengthen institutional memory and improve the relationship between government and citizens.

The system is expected to provide a centralised database containing important information about civil servants, including photographs, appointment details, promotion records, academic qualifications, complaints and other relevant documents.

Authorised government officials will be able to access the information when required, allowing personnel decisions to be made more quickly and with better data.

The platform will also automate payroll management, retirement processing and pension migration. It will alert the government when employees approach retirement and provide civil servants with access to information about their retirement timelines.

The self-service component will allow workers to access relevant personnel and payroll information without repeatedly visiting administrative offices.

The system is also expected to reduce paperwork, minimise administrative delays and improve the accuracy of personnel records and payroll processing.

Ondo State Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, described the initiative as an important step towards modernising the state’s public service and improving its capacity to respond to contemporary governance demands.

He said effective management of human resources remained essential because the civil service serves as the machinery through which government policies and programmes are implemented.

The launch forms part of Aiyedatiwa’s broader digitisation agenda, with the state government seeking to use technology to strengthen public administration, improve workforce management and support evidence-based decision-making.

The administration is also expected to continue developing and improving the system as more government processes are integrated into the digital platform.
