Air Peace Offers 25% Discount Over Delayed Lagos-Enugu Flight
Air Peace has offered a 25 per cent discount on domestic flights to lawyer Inibehe Effiong as compensation for a delayed Lagos-Enugu flight.
Air Peace has offered a 25 per cent discount on a one-way domestic ticket to lawyer and human rights activist, Inibehe Effiong, following a delayed Lagos-Enugu flight.
The airline made the offer in compliance with a directive from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) after a preliminary investigation into the disruption.
Effiong disclosed the compensation in a post on X on Wednesday, sharing an email from the airline’s call centre.
In the email, Air Peace apologised for the disruption of flight P47100 from Lagos to Enugu on September 21 and approved a discounted ticket, excluding taxes, as compensation for the inconvenience.
The airline said the offer would remain valid for six months from the date of the email, except between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027.
The affected flight was scheduled to depart Lagos at 6:45 a.m., but passengers were informed of a delay after arriving at the airport. The flight eventually departed at 4:50 p.m.
The NCAA had earlier directed Air Peace to compensate affected passengers after its preliminary investigation found that passengers had received an incorrect notification concerning the flight.
The authority said the delay was linked to an earlier disruption on the airline’s network on Sunday night, but stressed that passengers should have received accurate information about the rescheduled flight.
The NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, directed the airline to compensate the affected passengers in line with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.
Reacting to the offer, Effiong said the compensation did not resolve what he described as broader concerns about the airline’s service.
He commended the NCAA’s response but called for stronger regulatory measures to protect air passengers’ rights.
The NCAA regulations provide for passenger protections in cases of flight delays and cancellations, including reimbursement and compensation under specified circumstances.
