Accord Rep Candidate Targets One Million Votes for Tinubu in Osun
Accord Party candidate Pelumi Olajengbesi says he is targeting more than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Osun State in the 2027 presidential election.
Mr Pelumi Olajengbesi, Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, says he is targeting more than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Olajengbesi, who is also spokesman for the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, made the statement on Saturday after a meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of the President.
He said the reconciliation achieved in Osun State following the August 15 governorship election had created an opportunity to mobilise support for President Tinubu in the state.
“With the reconciliation achieved in Osun State and the commitment expressed by Governor Ademola Adeleke towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our political objective is clear: to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun State in the next presidential election,” he said.
Olajengbesi also commended Seyi Tinubu for what he described as his support for youth participation in governance and engagement with young Nigerians.
He said the involvement of young people in governance remained important to the country’s political development.
Adeleke, who contested the August governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, won the poll with 511,067 votes, while the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes. African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salam received 17,180 votes.
Following his victory, Adeleke reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. He had earlier endorsed the President for a second term.
The Independent National Electoral Commission said Osun had more than 2.3 million registered voters, with about 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards collected.
Olajengbesi’s target comes amid efforts by political actors and groups in the state to build alliances and mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
