Abia North Stakeholders Mobilise Support for Otti’s 2027 Re-election
Stakeholders in Abia North under the Alliance for Good Governance have resolved to mobilise grassroots support for Governor Alex Otti’s bid for a second term.
Stakeholders in Abia North under the Alliance for Good Governance have resolved to mobilise support for Governor Alex Otti’s re-election in the 2027 governorship election.
The stakeholders reached the resolution at a meeting held at the Isieke Civic Centre, Ugwueke, in Bende Local Government Area of the state.
Presenting the communique issued after the meeting, the group’s Secretary and spokesperson, Prof. Mkpa Mkpa, said the platform was committed to sustaining what it described as the governance model introduced by the Otti administration.
Mkpa said the stakeholders believed that the policies and programmes initiated by the administration should continue beyond 2027 and provide a template for future leaders of the state.
He said the group would embark on voter education, particularly at the grassroots and among young people, as part of its mobilisation efforts.
The stakeholders also urged youths not to be influenced by inducements or pressure from political opponents and encouraged them to participate actively in the electoral process.
“We are non-partisan; we are the elders of Abia North,” Mkpa said, adding that the group wanted the opportunity provided by the present administration to be sustained.
A former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uchechukwu Ogah, and former Group Managing Director of FBN Holdings, Urum Eke, said the stakeholders were mobilising their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They said the group would continue engaging communities and opinion leaders across the zone.
The Convener of the Alliance for Good Governance, Ebueme Ezikpe, and the host of the meeting, Johnson Chukwu, said the platform brought together opinion leaders and influential members of Abia North to discuss the direction of governance in the state.
The stakeholders’ declaration is part of the growing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Abia State.
