2027 Toyin Abraham Distances Self from Lagos APC Campaign Council
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her inclusion in the Lagos APC Campaign Council, saying she is staying out of politics and asking the public to disregard her reported membership.
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress Campaign Council after her name appeared among members of its Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
The actress made her position known on Thursday through an Instagram Story, saying she had not joined any campaign council and had decided to stay away from politics.
Abraham urged the public to disregard her reported inclusion in the campaign structure, saying she had recently made her position on political involvement clear.
Her reaction followed the release of the Lagos APC campaign council’s structure on Thursday ahead of its inauguration. She was listed alongside entertainers including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.
Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba were also listed as members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
The directorate is headed by Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
Despite Abraham’s rejection of the reported appointment, her name remained on the published 33-member list of the directorate.
The development comes after Abraham’s public support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, which drew criticism and controversy on social media.
She has since faced continued public commentary over her political involvement, but her latest statement indicates that she does not intend to participate in the Lagos APC campaign structure for the 2027 election.
