2027: Tinubu Took Money From Nigerians, Gave It to Govs — Melaye Alleges

Former lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye has accused President Bola Tinubu of taking money from Nigerians through fuel subsidy removal and transferring the proceeds to state governments.

Melaye made the allegation while commenting on the ongoing debate over the removal of fuel subsidy and its impact on Nigerians.

The former senator claimed that state governors had benefited from increased allocations following the removal of the subsidy but questioned whether they could deliver the support needed for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Melaye argued that the Federal Government was now asking Nigerians to hold their governors accountable after allegedly relying on them for political support.

“You took money away from Nigerians in the name of subsidy removal and gave it to the governors in return for their votes and support,” Melaye wrote on Facebook.

He added that with the 2027 election approaching, the administration had allegedly realised that the governors might not be capable of securing the president’s re-election.

“Now the election is almost here and you realised that the governors can’t deliver you, and you’ve now come back to ask Nigerians, the same people you took away monies from their pockets, to go and hold the governors accountable,” he stated.
