Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has announced plans to organize a youth football competition in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Martins disclosed the initiative during an interview on TVC on Thursday, explaining that the competition, tagged the "Renewed Hope Tournament," is scheduled to take place in November.
According to the former Inter Milan and Newcastle United forward, the tournament will feature teams drawn from Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, alongside three additional participating teams.
He noted that the self-funded initiative aims to support the President's re-election bid while simultaneously providing talent exposure and empowerment opportunities for Nigerian youths.
Martins confirmed that he is personally financing the entire logistics and execution of the sporting event.
The development comes shortly after the retired footballer publicly endorsed Seyi Tinubu, son of the President, for the presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation on the Mikel Obi podcast.
