2027: Kwankwaso Will Hurt Your Presidential Ambition, Primate Ayodele Warns Peter Obi
Primate Elijah Ayodele has warned Peter Obi that Rabiu Kwankwaso may undermine his 2027 presidential ambition, alleging that the former Kano governor is pursuing personal political interests.
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, that his alliance with Rabiu Kwankwaso could negatively affect his chances in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele claimed that Obi was being driven by political ambition and had failed to recognise what he described as the dangers surrounding his political partnership with Kwankwaso.
According to the cleric, Obi does not pay sufficient attention to guidance and advice, a situation he said had led him into what he termed a problematic political arrangement. Ayodele alleged that Kwankwaso was not fully committed to supporting Obi’s presidential bid and would eventually act in his own interest.
He further claimed that the former governor of Kano State had already weakened Obi’s political prospects, although Obi had yet to realise it. The cleric argued that every move being made by Kwankwaso was primarily for personal political gain rather than the success of a joint ambition.
Ayodele maintained that his comments were not motivated by hostility toward Obi, stressing that he admired the former Anambra governor’s courage and political determination. However, he expressed the view that Obi was not yet sufficiently prepared for the presidency.
The cleric also predicted that Kwankwaso’s intentions would eventually become clear, but warned that by then it might be too late for Obi to reverse any political damage that may have occurred.
His remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and coalition discussions ahead of the 2027 general election, with several opposition figures exploring possible partnerships aimed at challenging the ruling party.
Neither Obi nor Kwankwaso has publicly responded to the claims at the time of this report.
