2027: ‘Ignore Opposition Tactics’, APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu to Focus on Governance
APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye urges Tinubu to ignore opposition tactics and focus on effective governance.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged President Bola Tinubu to remain focused on governance and avoid being distracted by opposition tactics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oyintiloye made the call on Sunday in Osogbo while speaking with journalists against the backdrop of recent security alerts over possible attacks on vulnerable locations, particularly in parts of southern Nigeria.
The APC chieftain said the President should concentrate on addressing security challenges and supporting security agencies to intensify surveillance, strengthen intelligence gathering and improve cooperation among agencies.
He also called for increased security around schools, places of worship, National Youth Service Corps facilities, parks, garages and other locations considered vulnerable to attacks, especially as schools remain in session.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, urged security agencies to work together and strengthen rapid-response mechanisms to prevent attacks and protect lives and property.
He specifically called for an immediate and transparent investigation into recent killings in Osun State, urging authorities to identify those suspected of participating in, sponsoring or facilitating the violence.
According to him, anyone against whom sufficient evidence is established should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The APC chieftain also appealed to transport workers, community leaders, traditional rulers and religious leaders to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist investigations and prevent further violence.
He urged the Federal Government to provide security agencies with adequate training, equipment and resources, saying stronger intelligence capabilities would improve their ability to detect and respond to threats.
Oyintiloye further suggested that service chiefs should review operational strategies where necessary and adjust them to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
He also called on state governors and local government chairmen to complement the President’s efforts by supporting security agencies within their jurisdictions and strengthening grassroots intelligence.
The APC chieftain said insecurity could undermine economic growth, infrastructure development, investment and social services because meaningful development requires a peaceful environment.
Oyintiloye urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and provide timely information about suspicious activities.
He said sustained attention to security and development would help improve conditions across the country for Nigerians today.
