2027, Group Urges APC to Accommodate Rainbow Coalition, Other Pro-Tinubu Groups
The Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Independent Support Movement has urged the APC to accommodate the Rainbow Coalition and other groups supporting President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Independent Support Movement has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to embrace political groups outside its formal structure that are supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The group made the call following comments by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, that APC governors had not entered into any formal agreement with opposition parties or other political actors ahead of the elections.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Musa Mohammed, the group said the evolving political landscape required broad-based support, strategic partnerships and cooperation among political stakeholders.
It identified the Rainbow Coalition, championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as one of the groups that had publicly expressed support for Tinubu.
The movement said support for the President should not be limited to the formal structures of the APC, arguing that independent movements and political actors mobilising support for his administration should be encouraged.
It urged APC leaders to avoid statements that could alienate groups working to expand the President’s support base.
According to the group, the 2027 election would require the participation of political stakeholders, grassroots organisations, support movements and other Nigerians beyond the ruling party’s established structures.
It also warned that distancing the APC from alliance groups could create divisions among those supporting Tinubu.
The group said the President’s re-election should involve inclusiveness, strategic cooperation and unity among the various political interests supporting his administration.
It urged APC leaders and other stakeholders to exercise caution in their public statements and maintain cooperation with groups seeking to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
