2027: ‘Five APC Govs Secretly Supporting NDC’ — Isaac Fayose Claims

Businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose has claimed that five governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress are secretly supporting the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fayose made the claim while discussing the political activities surrounding the NDC and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

According to him, some governors elected under the ruling APC are allegedly maintaining public loyalty to the party while privately supporting political interests associated with the opposition NDC.

Fayose did not publicly identify the five governors he was referring to in the report of his comments.

His allegation comes amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with several political figures and groups engaging in discussions across party lines.

The NDC has emerged as one of the political platforms attracting attention as opposition figures position themselves for the next general elections.

Obi, a former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, is leading the NDC’s presidential campaign ahead of the election.

Fayose has previously expressed support for Obi and defended his political movement despite criticism over the former governor’s movement between political platforms.

In recent months, Fayose has also made comments concerning the APC administration and political developments surrounding the 2027 contest.

His latest claim comes at a time when political parties are strengthening their structures, holding consultations and seeking support from influential political figures across the country.

The APC remains the ruling party at the federal level, while its governors control several states across Nigeria.

The party has also been preparing for the 2027 elections as President Bola Tinubu seeks another term in office.

The NDC and other opposition groups are meanwhile seeking to build alliances and attract politicians and voters ahead of the elections.

Fayose’s allegation has not been independently verified, and no evidence establishing that five APC governors are secretly supporting the NDC was provided in the report.

The identities of the alleged governors, their states and the nature of any purported support remain undisclosed.

Political developments involving possible defections, alliances or cross-party support are expected to become more prominent as the 2027 elections approach.

The Independent National Electoral Commission is responsible for conducting the general elections, while registered political parties are expected to campaign and present candidates in accordance with Nigeria’s electoral laws.

Further clarification from Fayose or the political parties involved would be required to establish the details behind the claim.
