The Democratic Leadership Alliance has inaugurated its National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, charging members to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and present it as a credible opposition platform. The council, made up of political leaders and grassroots mobilisers, pledged to work towards making the DLA a preferred choice for Nigerians.
The Democratic Leadership Alliance, DLA, has inaugurated its National Campaign Council to coordinate the party’s activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Inaugurating the council in Abuja, DLA National Chairman, Samuel Memeh, said the body comprised experienced political leaders and grassroots mobilisers who would oversee the party’s campaign activities.
Memeh urged members to remain committed to their responsibilities and maintain direct engagement with the party’s candidates and leadership at all levels.
He charged the political strategists to use their experience and knowledge to promote the DLA and position it as a credible opposition capable of providing the good governance Nigerians desire.
The newly inaugurated council is chaired by Fortune Aghwaretoma, with Dr Tosin Odeyemi as Co-Chairman, Grace Obekpa as Secretary and Judith Aguenu as Assistant Secretary.
John Friday will head the Strategy Committee, while Methuselah Gallio will chair the Mobilisation Committee. Aghwaretoma will also head the Security Committee, while Odeyemi will oversee the Media and Publicity Committee.
Responding, Aghwaretoma thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in the council members.
He acknowledged the responsibilities before the council and pledged that members would work collectively to strengthen the party and make the DLA a preferred choice among voters in the 2027 elections.
The DLA was registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in February 2026 after emerging from a process involving 171 political associations that submitted letters of intent.
INEC said 14 associations initially met the pre-qualification requirements, while eight proceeded to submit their documents for further assessment.
Following the final verification, the electoral commission found that the DLA had complied with the constitutional and electoral requirements for registration.
