The four-day tournament brings together badminton players from different parts of the world, providing an important platform for international competition and exposure.
Nigeria is hosting the championship as part of efforts to promote badminton and strengthen the country’s position on the international badminton calendar.
The tournament features a strong field of players expected to compete across various events as they battle for honours and prize money.
President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih, said the federation was fully prepared to host the championship.
He described the response from participating countries as encouraging and expressed optimism that the tournament would be successfully delivered.
Orbih said the growing international participation demonstrated the increasing profile of the Lagos International Badminton Classics.
The competition also offers Nigerian players an opportunity to test themselves against athletes from other countries and gain valuable international experience.
The championship is being held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Institute for Sports, National Stadium, Lagos.
The Badminton Federation of Nigeria commended the management of the National Institute for Sports for providing the venue and supporting preparations for the competition.

As the tournament continues, attention will be focused on the performances of both Nigerian players and their international counterparts.
The organisers are targeting a successful conclusion to the championship while using the event to further promote badminton and encourage greater participation in the sport across Nigeria.
