Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet as Oyedele Becomes Finance Minister

President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, resulting in key changes in the leadership of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has been directed to hand over duties following his removal from the cabinet.

He is to be replaced by Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.

In the same development, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has also been directed to hand over his responsibilities to the Minister of State in the ministry.

The memo also named Muttaqha Rabe Darma as ministerial nominee and Minister-designate for the Housing and Urban Development Ministry.

All handover and takeover processes are expected to be completed on or before Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The presidency said the reshuffle is aimed at improving coordination, strengthening governance synergy, and enhancing delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
