A notorious terrorist leader identified as Kachalla Auwalu, reportedly linked to the Dogo Gide network, has been killed during a violent internal clash between rival armed groups in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to an operational report obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, the incident occurred during a confrontation among terrorist factions operating within the region, leading to significant casualties.
The report indicated that about 12 terrorists were killed in the clash, which is believed to have stemmed from internal disputes among the criminal groups.
Security sources said troops of the Nigerian military are closely monitoring developments in the area following the incident, as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North-West.
In a related development, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma in Zamfara State responded to an attack on Gidan Daji village in Maru Local Government Area. The military confirmed that pursuit operations were immediately launched to track down fleeing terrorists involved in the assault.
The Nigerian Army stated that additional coordinated operations are ongoing across affected states as part of intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore stability to communities in the region.
Military authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining pressure on armed groups operating in the North-West, noting that recent operations are aimed at weakening their structures and reducing their capacity to carry out attacks.
The developments come amid continued security operations across Kaduna, Zamfara, and neighbouring states, where troops have stepped up engagements against banditry and terrorism in recent weeks.
