Iran’s armed forces have warned that they may respond if the United States continues what it described as the blockade of Iranian ports, accusing Washington of engaging in “banditry” and “piracy” in the region.
In a statement published by state media outlet IRIB, the central command of Iran’s military, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said it is closely monitoring developments and remains prepared to act if tensions escalate further.
The statement cautioned that continued US actions in regional waters could trigger a response from Iran’s armed forces.
“If the invading US military continues blockading, banditry, and piracy in the region, they should be certain that they will face a response from Iran’s powerful armed forces,” the command said.
It further stressed that Iran remains on alert and is tracking the movement and behaviour of perceived adversaries, adding that its forces are fully prepared for any scenario.
“We are ready and determined, while monitoring the behaviour and movements of enemies,” the statement added.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in strategic maritime routes in the Middle East, where Iran and the United States have repeatedly clashed over security, sanctions, and naval activity.
While no specific incident was cited in the latest statement, the rhetoric reflects ongoing strain between both countries over control and influence in key shipping lanes.
Analysts say such exchanges often accompany broader geopolitical disputes in the region, particularly around maritime security and energy transport corridors.
The United States has not yet issued an official response to the latest claims.
