Yomi Fabiyi Demands Probe Into Tope Osoba’s Death, Seeks Autopsy

Nollywood actor and human rights activist Yomi Fabiyi has called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of actress Temitope Osoba, urging that an autopsy be conducted before her burial.

Fabiyi said his organisation, Break The Silence Foundation, had petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and commenced what he described as a “legitimate probe” into Osoba’s death. He said the investigation was necessary because Osoba had allegedly reported a matter to the police shortly before her death.

The actor questioned the decision to proceed with Osoba’s burial without an autopsy, arguing that the circumstances surrounding her death warranted further investigation.

He urged the relevant authorities to allow due process to take its course and conduct an autopsy before the actress is buried.

Fabiyi said his organisation would continue with its investigation regardless of whether the burial proceeds as scheduled, adding that the aim was to establish the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death.

Osoba’s death has generated conflicting accounts about her final moments. Her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, alleged that she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos, while members of her family have provided a different account. The claims have not been independently established.

The Awonuga/Osoba family has meanwhile warned against what it described as false, speculative and unauthorised reports concerning her death, urging the public to rely on information from authorised family channels.

Osoba's burial is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
