X Scraps Revenue Sharing, Unveils New Creator Rewards Programme

X has announced the discontinuation of its Revenue Sharing programme, replacing it with a new Original Content Rewards programme designed to reward creators who produce original content on the platform.

The social media platform said it stopped accepting new enrolments into the Revenue Sharing programme on August 7, while existing participants will continue earning until September 7, 2026. They will receive three final payments, with the last payout expected around September 11.

Under the new programme, eligible creators will earn from qualified impressions generated by their original posts, with payments made every two weeks. X said qualified impressions will be based on unique views from Premium users on the Home Timeline, provided at least half of the post is visible.

To qualify, creators must be at least 18 years old, have an account in good standing, subscribe to X Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business, have at least 500 verified followers, record 500,000 qualifying Home Timeline impressions from verified users within the previous 90 days.

X said eligible content may include threads, videos, memes, graphics, illustrations, reporting, analysis, commentary, reactions that add meaningful value to conversations. Simply reposting another person's content, making minor edits, or uploading copied material will generally not qualify.

Existing Revenue Sharing participants will begin getting access to apply for the new programme from September 8, with their first payment under the Original Content Rewards programme expected on September 25.
