FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has criticised former PDP Deputy National Chairman Bode George, describing him as a failed politician who has not delivered electoral victories for the party in Lagos State since 1999.

Wike said he had no regret preventing George from becoming the PDP National Chairman, arguing that the position belonged to the South-South at the time.

He alleged that George's continued criticism was driven by his disappointment over losing the opportunity to lead the party, saying the former PDP chieftain had remained angry since the decision.

The minister also questioned George's electoral influence in Lagos, claiming that he had never won his polling unit for the PDP. Wike cited the 2019 presidential election, when the APC recorded 84 votes against the PDP's 40 at George's former polling unit.

Wike further said political leadership should be measured by the ability to win elections, rather than by titles, names or claims of being a founding member of a political party.

He maintained that George's political record in Lagos did not demonstrate the electoral strength expected of a prominent party leader, describing his performance as a failure.

The latest exchange adds to the growing political disagreement between Wike, George, as both continue to express opposing positions on the direction of the PDP, its leadership.
