Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, has explained why she is frequently cast as a witch or other villainous characters in Nigerian movies.

Ozokwo said she believes God gave her a particular role in the film industry to expose wrongdoing and injustice through the characters she portrays.

Speaking during a livestream with comedian Carter Efe, the actress said she dislikes injustice, conflict and anything that promotes hatred. She explained that when she receives roles portraying wicked characters, she tries to portray their behaviour convincingly so audiences can recognise the consequences of destructive actions.

According to Ozokwo, her performances are intended to make viewers reflect on the consequences of their choices and understand the difference between good and bad conduct.

The actress has become one of Nollywood's most recognisable faces for villainous roles, particularly characters portrayed as wicked women or witches. Her distinctive performances have made “Mama G” a memorable figure among generations of Nigerian film audiences.
