Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has agreed to honour the Nigeria Police Force's invitation over allegations he made against Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Moshood Jimoh, but says the process must be transparent and conducted in line with the law.

In a statement issued by his legal team, led by Deji Adeyanju, VDM said he is willing to cooperate fully with investigators, stressing that he has never opposed any lawful investigation. However, he requested that representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association, civil society organisations, independent observers be allowed to monitor the interview to ensure fairness and public confidence in the process.

The legal team also insisted that VDM's lawyers must be present throughout the interrogation at the Force Criminal Investigation Department headquarters in Abuja. According to the statement, the presence of legal counsel and independent observers would help prevent misinformation, misrepresentation, strengthen the credibility of the investigation.

The police had earlier invited VDM to substantiate corruption allegations he made against AIG Jimoh, while confirming that the senior police officer would also be questioned as part of the investigation. The activist welcomed the decision to probe the allegations, maintaining that his requests are intended to promote transparency rather than interfere with the police's statutory responsibilities.

VDM's legal team urged the Nigeria Police Force to ensure the investigation is conducted openly, fairly, professionally, expressing confidence that a transparent process would strengthen public trust in the outcome of the probe.
