Tottenham Prepare Move for Victor Osimhen Amid Growing Transfer Interest
Tottenham target Victor Osimhen after record spending, with formal negotiations reportedly set to begin despite Galatasaray stance.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to enter the race for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as the Premier League club looks to strengthen its attack before the close of the summer transfer window.
According to reports, Spurs have identified the Super Eagles forward as a priority signing after an aggressive recruitment drive that has already seen the club spend more than £230 million on new players this summer.
The North London side have reinforced several areas of the squad with the arrivals of Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, but club officials are now keen to add a proven goalscorer to complete the team.
Reports by CaughtOffside claim Tottenham have received internal sporting approval to begin formal negotiations for Osimhen’s transfer.
The report added that the club are prepared to submit an offer worth around £65 million for the striker, although that figure is expected to fall short of Galatasaray’s valuation.
The Turkish champions reportedly value Osimhen at €150 million and remain reluctant to part with one of their most influential players.
Osimhen is under contract with Galatasaray until 2029 after joining the club in a deal worth approximately €75 million from Napoli.
The Nigerian international has also stated previously that he would only consider leaving if Galatasaray decide it is in the club’s best interest.
Despite the financial hurdle, Tottenham are believed to be confident that agreeing personal terms with the player would not present a major challenge if negotiations with Galatasaray progress.
Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers over the last four seasons.
The 27-year-old played a key role in Napoli’s historic Serie A title triumph during the 2022/23 season before helping Galatasaray win consecutive Turkish Super Lig titles in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 campaigns.
Across all competitions, Osimhen has scored 107 goals in 145 appearances over the last four seasons.
He has also impressed in the UEFA Champions League, where he has registered 16 goals in 27 matches.
The Nigerian has consistently attracted interest from several elite European clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich, but none have succeeded in securing his signature.
