President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani have congratulated former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, on his 70th birthday, praising his contributions to public service, democratic development.

Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information, Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Makarfi as a statesman, exemplary public servant whose career had earned him respect across political divides.

The President commended Makarfi's commitment to democratic ideals, prudent management of public resources, policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. He also praised his calm disposition, civility in politics, commitment to dialogue, national cohesion.

Sani, in his separate congratulatory message, described Makarfi's contributions to Kaduna, Nigeria as significant, saying his tenure as governor remained an important chapter in the state's history.

The governor said Makarfi demonstrated that leadership involved listening, building bridges, accommodating differences, finding common ground. He also praised his commitment to dialogue, inclusion, respect for diversity, accessible governance.

Makarfi served as Kaduna State governor from 1999 to 2007, later represented Kaduna North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, served as chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Caretaker Committee during a period of crisis within the opposition party.
