Super Eagles forward Abraham Marcus starred as Estrela da Amadora defeated Al Nassr 4-2 to win the Troféu Cidade da Amadora. Marcus scored once and provided an assist, while Cristiano Ronaldo missed the match as he remains on an extended post-World Cup break.
Super Eagles forward Abraham Marcus delivered an impressive performance as Estrela da Amadora defeated Al Nassr 4-2 to win the Troféu Cidade da Amadora in Portugal. The Nigerian attacker played a key role in the victory, registering a goal and an assist before being substituted in the 64th minute. The match was played without Cristiano Ronaldo, who remains on an extended break following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Marcus helped Estrela take the lead in the 25th minute after setting up Leandro Antonetti for the opening goal. The Portuguese side strengthened their grip on the game early in the second half after Al Nassr goalkeeper Bento was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area, leaving the Saudi champions to play with 10 men.
The Nigerian forward doubled Estrela's advantage in the 62nd minute with a superb left-footed strike from outside the penalty area. His goal gave the hosts complete control before Sydney van Hooijdonk added a third in the 77th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
Al Nassr responded through Abdullah Al-Hamdan and Hayder Abdulkareem, who scored late goals to reduce the deficit. However, Beni Souza netted deep into stoppage time to seal a 4-2 victory for Estrela and hand the Portuguese club the pre-season trophy.
Marcus, who joined Estrela permanently in 2025 after spells with Feirense and FC Porto B, continues to enhance his reputation with consistent performances in Portugal. The 26-year-old finished last season with five goals and five assists in the Primeira Liga and appears set for another strong campaign ahead of the new season.
