An actress has alleged that some Nollywood stars declined to support the burial of late actress Temitope Osoba, amid growing controversy surrounding the circumstances of Osoba’s death.

The development comes as the actress’s family prepares to lay her to rest on August 13, 2026, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State. The funeral service is scheduled to hold at Saint James Anglican Church before her interment at Iperu Remo Cemetery.

Osoba, who was 40, died after previously speaking publicly about her battle with breast cancer and later announcing her recovery and return to acting.

Her death has generated conflicting accounts about her final moments. Her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, has given his version of events, while members of her family have provided a different account. These claims have not been independently established.

The controversy has also prompted Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi to call for an investigation and an autopsy, saying his organisation had petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police over the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death.

Meanwhile, friends and colleagues of Osoba had organised a candlelight and artistes’ night in her honour ahead of the burial.

The latest allegation about some industry colleagues refusing to support the burial adds another layer to the ongoing discussion surrounding the late actress and the response of the Nollywood community to her death.
