Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 33 passengers abducted by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The rescue followed information received by troops on Saturday about the abduction of commuters travelling through the Magazu area of Tsafe.

The Media Information Officer of the JTF North-West, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops of Sector 2, working with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force deployed in Tsafe, mobilised to the area after receiving the report.

According to Danja, the troops encountered the terrorists while they were moving the abducted passengers to an unknown destination. The intervention forced the terrorists to abandon the victims and flee into nearby bushes.

All 33 passengers were subsequently rescued safely, with no casualty recorded. Troops also began searching the area and tracking the fleeing terrorists.

The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA commended the troops for their prompt response and professionalism, saying the operation demonstrated the military's commitment to protecting civilians and securing major transportation routes across the North-West.

The military urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information about suspected terrorist and criminal activities to security agencies.
