The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad has arrested suspected miscreants and hoodlums accused of terrorising motorists along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway during a midnight enforcement operation.

The operation targeted individuals allegedly involved in harassing and intimidating motorists, extorting money from them and, in some cases, vandalising vehicles when drivers refused to comply with their demands.

Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the development through his X account on Sunday.

Wahab said the RRS would sustain intelligence-led operations and enforcement actions against criminal elements whose activities threaten public safety and disrupt the free movement of people and vehicles across the state.

The Lekki-Ajah corridor has repeatedly recorded complaints of harassment and extortion of motorists by suspected touts, prompting security agencies to carry out enforcement operations in the area.

The latest raid is part of efforts to improve security along the busy corridor and protect motorists from criminal activities.
